The role of constant velocity universal joint transmission shaft in automotive components is still very powerful and cannot be underestimated. In front engine rear wheel drive (or all wheel drive) vehicles, due to suspension deformation during movement, there is often relative motion between the input shaft of the drive shaft, main reducer, and the output shaft of the transmission (or transfer case). In addition, to effectively avoid certain mechanisms or devices (which cannot achieve linear transmission), there must be a device to achieve normal power transmission, hence the emergence of universal joint transmission.


Application of constant velocity universal joint transmission shaft:
A constant velocity universal joint is a universal joint that transfers motion between the output shaft and input shaft connected to the universal joint at an equal instantaneous angular velocity. A constant velocity universal joint is a mechanism that connects two axes that do not coincide and transmits motion at the same angular velocity. It is a universal joint where the rotational speed (angular velocity) of the driving shaft and the driven shaft are equal. On front wheel drive cars, the front axle is equipped with a constant velocity universal joint transmission shaft (drive and steering).


Working principle of constant velocity universal joint transmission shaft:
In order to meet the angle changes caused by power transmission, steering, and up and down jumping during vehicle operation, the drive axle, half shaft, and wheel axle of front drive vehicles are also commonly connected by universal joints. Due to the limitation of axial dimensions and the requirement for a relatively large deflection angle, ordinary universal joints are difficult to handle, so various types of constant velocity universal joints are widely used. On a typical front drive car, each half shaft is equipped with two constant velocity universal joints. The universal joint near the transmission drive axle is the inner universal joint of the half shaft, and the one near the axle is the outer universal joint of the half shaft. Among various constant velocity universal joints, the common one is the cage type universal joint, which uses six steel balls to transmit force. At any angle of intersection between the driving shaft and the driven shaft, the steel balls are located at the intersection of the two circles, that is, on the bisector of the angle of intersection between the two shafts, thus ensuring equal angular velocity transmission between the driving and driven shafts.


Characteristics of constant velocity universal joint transmission shaft:
a、 Ensure reliable transmission of power when the relative position of the two connected shafts changes within the expected range;
b、 Ensure that the two connected shafts can operate uniformly. The additional load, vibration, and noise generated by the angle of the universal joint should be within the allowable range;
c、 High transmission efficiency, long service life, simple structure, easy manufacturing, and easy maintenance are required. For automobiles, since the output shaft of a cross shaft universal joint rotates at different speeds relative to the input shaft (with a certain included angle), it is necessary to adopt double universal joints (or multiple universal joints) for transmission, and arrange two universal joint forks connected to the transmission shaft on the same plane, so that the included angles of the two universal joints are equal. This is very important. During design, the angle of the universal joint should be minimized as much as possible.

In order to ensure the dynamic balance of the transmission shaft, it is necessary to regularly pay attention to whether the balance welding plate is detached. The new transmission shaft component is provided as a complete set. When installing the new transmission shaft, attention should be paid to the assembly markings of the expansion sleeve, and the flange fork should be ensured to be in the same plane. When repairing and disassembling the transmission shaft, assembly marks should be printed on the expansion sleeve and flange shaft to maintain the original assembly relationship during reassembly.
